Knowledge base overview
A tour of the DawForge knowledge base — what's curated, how it's structured, and how it powers the editor, templates, and Flow.
The knowledge base is the catalogue of orchestral libraries DawForge knows about — every patch tagged with its articulations, dynamics, mic positions, and the default MIDI output rule the library expects. Everything else in the product reads from this catalogue.
What's curated
Each library in the knowledge base contains:
- Patches — the individual instrument programs you'd load in Kontakt, Play, Vienna Synchron Player, etc.
- Articulations per patch — every technique exposed by the patch, with a canonical name and tags.
- Default MIDI output rule per library — the recipe DawForge uses when wiring an articulation to the library. Spitfire libraries default to
CC 32(UACC); Vienna libraries default to per-articulation keyswitches at a configured base note; Orchestral Tools libraries default to their own UACC variants. You can override per articulation in the map editor. - Mic positions and dynamic layers — surfaced for search and (where relevant) for routing decisions.
DawForge does not ship samples, instruments, or any audio data. The knowledge base is metadata about libraries you already own.
Where it surfaces

My library vs. all
The /search page has a My Library toggle. Acquiring a library (Add to my library) is free and reversible — it just marks the library as owned by your account so it shows up in pickers and counts toward your plan's vendor-library cap (Solo 24 / Chamber 64 / Orchestra unlimited).
Offline copy
The first time you open /search, DawForge downloads the knowledge base and saves an offline copy. After that, searches are instant and work offline. The copy updates itself in the background — if a vendor adds a library, you don't need to do anything; it shows up on your next visit.
