Maestro — Library Advisor

How to use Maestro, the DawForge AI library advisor, to find the right sample libraries for your project.

Maestro is DawForge's AI library advisor — a conversational assistant that searches the knowledge base on your behalf and surfaces the best-matching libraries for what you're composing. It is not a general-purpose AI chatbot; it stays scoped to virtual instruments, orchestration, and DawForge workflow questions.

Maestro is a paid feature. Solo and Chamber users pay from their credit balance per message. Orchestra users receive a weekly token grant — once exhausted, additional messages draw from the credit balance. See Plans and credits for details.

Opening Maestro

Click the chat icon in the app sidebar. The panel slides in over the current page — Maestro is accessible from anywhere in the app. You can keep it open while working in the map editor or template inspector.

What Maestro can do

Maestro searches the full DawForge library catalogue and answers questions grounded in the actual patch and articulation data for each library. It does not hallucinate library names or make up articulations — every claim it makes comes from the database.

Good questions to ask:

"What's the best string library for a Hans Zimmer-style score?"
"I need col legno and harmonics on the same library — what are my options?"
"Which Spitfire libraries cover the full brass section with UACC keyswitches?"
"Compare Orchestral Tools and EastWest for solo woodwinds with flautando."
"I own Albion ONE — what else from Spitfire would complement it?"

What Maestro will not answer:

Maestro declines questions outside music, orchestration, sample libraries, and DawForge. It responds with a one-sentence redirect if you ask it something off-topic.

Owned-library mode

By default Maestro searches the entire catalogue. Toggle My Library only in the panel header to restrict results to libraries you've already acquired — useful when you know you want to stay within your current toolset.

How results appear

Maestro's response always includes a ranked numbered list and, below each item, a library card showing the library's instruments, articulations, and quick-action buttons (Add to library, Create map). The cards are pulled directly from the search result data — you can act on a recommendation without leaving the panel.

Credit cost

Each message costs credits based on the token count of the conversation (input + output) with a minimum charge of 0.001 credits per turn. A typical short exchange (1–2 messages) costs well under 0.1 credit. Longer, tool-heavy searches cost proportionally more.

Saving a session

Maestro remembers your conversation across page navigations within the same browser session. To start a fresh conversation, click New chat in the panel header. Previous sessions are accessible from the session list in the panel.
